Revive Superfood Smoothies Review

Revive Superfood Review

Revive Superfoods smoothies make mornings and snacktime easier by offering delicious tasting smoothie blends that can be prepared in a jiffy. Revive Superfood takes fresh, whole-food ingredients and freezes them at their peak so that when they arrive at your door, they’re packed with optimal nutrition and all the health benefits that come with it. We were curious about the quality and taste, so we tried them out. Now, we’re here to report the results of this Revive Superfoods review.

Although their smoothies in a range of unique flavors are the most popular, Revive Superfoods also offers a small line of other types of light meals and snacks, including oats, soups, super meals, frozen desserts, and bites. Overall, we were pleased with what Revive Superfood offers. Here are our thoughts on everything from their menu and ingredient quality to taste and pricing.

Revive Superfoods has obviously put some thought into making sure their smoothies and meals are appropriate for the masses. All of their meals are vegan-friendly (but you don’t need to be following vegan and vegetarian diets to enjoy them!), and they’re appropriate for several dietary restrictions and health conditions.

All of their plant-based meals are dairy-free, gluten-free, and paleo-friendly. Most of their meals are low in sugar, except for a few smoothies that have more grams of sugar due to loads of fruit. Plus, these meals are also high in fiber. This makes them a good choice for anyone looking for healthy dietary options to lower their blood pressure, improve cholesterol, lose weight, and in some cases, manage diabetes.

Since there is no dairy or gluten on the premises, there’s no concern about cross-contamination, which is great for those of us that have allergies and severe intolerances.

We give Revive Superfoods high marks in this category and appreciate that they offer meal options appropriate for many people with special dietary considerations.

Revive Superfood Nutition Facts

Revive Superfoods relies heavily on the quality of its ingredients. All of their ingredients are whole, nutritious foods that are packed full of all sorts of potential health benefits. They don’t use any added sugar or other artificial anything, and their meals are all appropriate for a plant-based diet. If something does need to be sweetened, maple syrup seems to be their go-to.

Menu items like smoothies, soups, and super meals are delivered frozen. Revive Superfood chooses to go the frozen route instead of fresh because they’re able to freeze all ingredients right at their peak of freshness. This translates to fresher flavors, and it also cuts down on food waste, which is something we appreciate. In addition to fruits and vegetables, you’ll also find nutritious ingredients like hemp seeds, maca powder, pea protein, and whole grains.

If you eat an entirely plant-based diet or are health conscious, you might also be concerned about whether or not the foods you eat are organic. The one area where we think Revive Superfoods could improve is with their offering of organic ingredients. Currently, only a select few ingredients are organic. There are other meal delivery companies that offer smoothies that choose to go the organic (whenever possible) route. It would be great if Revive Superfoods could jump on that train.

Taste & Preparation

There’s a reason that the smoothies are the most popular thing on the menu, and it’s because they taste so good. We tried a variety of smoothie flavors and can honestly say that there wasn’t a flavor we didn’t like. On some, the texture seemed a bit off. Either too thick, too thin, and sometimes a bit gritty. However, the taste was definitely there, and we had zero problems enjoying the smoothies and would happily order them again.

We mostly liked the other meals we tried, including an oat bowl, soups, and a super meal. With the oat bowl we tried, we honestly think that maybe it was just a tad too sweet, but that’s also my personal preference. You could tell the sweetness came from natural ingredients, so it wasn’t sweet like one of those premade oat bowls loaded with sugar.

We also enjoyed the warm, savory meals we tried. Although, we felt that they were a little on the light side for dinner. They’d be good for a light lunch, but we added a substantial salad to make them more filling as an evening meal.

Preparation

As far as preparation goes, these meals are pretty easy and come with easy-to-understand instructions. These meals aren’t exactly ready to eat, but they require minimum cooking/prep time, which is especially great if you’re looking to save time in the morning.

For the smoothies, just take a cup of frozen fruits and add the suggested amount of liquid. You can use any liquid you want. We used coconut water in some and plain oat milk in others. Both liquids worked well. Once you have everything measured, you just toss it all into the blender, and you’re done. You can either pour it back into the cup to enjoy or make yummy smoothie bowls with a couple of extra toppings from your refrigerator or pantry.

Our preference is for smoothies that aren’t quite as thick, so we did find that we needed to add a bit more liquid than was suggested to get to a consistency that we personally liked.

The oats are also super easy to make. These are meant to be overnight oats, so all you have to do is add some liquid to the cup and place it in the fridge overnight. When you wake up in the morning, you have a perfectly prepared cup of oats that you can either eat cold or heat up quickly in the microwave.

In our opinion, the soups are best prepared on the stovetop, but you could also just stick them in the microwave if you’re looking to save time. To make the soups, you will need to add a measured cup of vegetable stock or your preferred liquid. We didn’t look at the instructions close enough when ordering, so we didn’t know at first that we needed to supply the vegetable stock, but it wasn’t that big of a deal. Making these soups with water wouldn’t be a good idea because they’d probably end up being a bit bland.

The super meals have a simple heat & eat preparation that can be done either in the microwave or on the stovetop.

Revive Superfood Prices & Coupons

Revive Superfoods is a different type of meal delivery service in that they offer you so much control over the size of the box and the meals that are inside. You aren’t obligated to choose from one type of food item, such as a box of just smoothies. Instead, you can add whatever you want from every menu they offer.

MEALS

PRICE PER SERVING

7 Smoothies

$8.99

14 Smoothies

$7.99

21 Smoothies

$6.99

They also don’t have a set pricing structure. Each meal has a price tag attached to it. Once you build your first box, the prices are tallied up for the final total.

You can choose to build a box with either nine, twelve, or twenty-four items, and you can choose between a weekly or monthly subscription plan. It’s also easy to change how frequently you receive deliveries. If you’re on a monthly plan but decide you rather receive weekly deliveries, all you have to do is make the change in your account.

Revive Superfoods costs $6.99 for a smoothie, soup, oat bowls, and bites. Their frozen desserts are $7.99, and the super meals are $8.49 each.

Packaging & Recycling

Revive Superfood box

Revive Superfoods packaging is neither the best nor the worst in the world of meal delivery services. Revive Superfoods ships orders in a recyclable cardboard box with dry ice to keep everything nice and cold. This packaging is all easily recyclable.

The cups are a bit more of an issue, but they are made at least partially of post-consumer recycled materials.

We personally didn’t have any issue with our shipment, and everything arrived intact and frozen. However, when researching this company, we did find more than one Revive Superfoods review that claimed their order arrived with the fruits inside the smoothie cups being partially thawed.

When you sign up for a meal delivery subscription with Revive Superfoods, they make it super easy to manage your account online. You can easily pause, skip, and change the frequency of your orders.

You can also cancel your subscription. Overall, Revive Superfoods gets good feedback on its customer service. The one exception is the fact that there is more than one Revive Superfoods review that mentions having a difficult time canceling their subscription and being charged for future deliveries even after they had canceled.

The Bottom Line

Overall, we genuinely enjoyed the taste and new flavors that Revive Superfoods offers. We love their smoothies and would love it even more if they expanded the other areas of their menu. We think they’re great for quick, light, and healthy meals, although they’re not the best if you’re looking for a more substantial meal solution.

At the end of the day, we liked them enough that we would order from them again. We noticed that other customers mentioned flavors that weren’t on the menu, but that we would love to try, like the liquid gold smoothie, matcha maker smoothie, berry patch, and these infamous falafel pops we’d love to get our hands on!

What we liked:

  • Great smoothie flavors, and some we haven’t seen before
  • Ingredients tasted fresh, even though they had been frozen
  • Plant-based and good for people with dietary restrictions
  • Meals were easy to prepare

What we didn’t like:

  • The menu is limited if you want something other than a smoothie
  • We wish they offered more organic ingredients
  • Moderately priced, but some might feel that smoothies are on the pricier side
  • A few questionable customer service reviews
